NPC and Me
2025/3 - 2025/9I had the opportunity to illustrate NPC and Me, a children’s book created for the Australian NPC Disease Foundation. The book helps children and families understand Niemann-Pick type C disease
Niemann-Pick type C disease is a rare genetic condition that affects how cells process cholesterol and lipids
My goal was to translate complex biological concepts into clear, friendly visuals. I focused on simplifying the science while keeping it emotionally warm and accessible. Each illustration was designed to support young readers’ curiosity and reassure families learning about the disease for the first time.
This project combined my love of storytelling with my background in science illustration. Working closely with the foundation and author, I developed a visual language that balances accuracy and empathy — using colour, character, and narrative flow to make the information engaging rather than intimidating.
The final book is a resource for families, educators, and anyone interested in rare diseases. It’s available through theAustralian NPC Disease Foundation store
